Karyn Hodgens is a gifted instructor with over 17 years experience of teaching in the elementary grades. A career specialist in mathematics, she is passionate about making math relevant. She is currently consulting to elementary schools, offering workshops aligned with the NCTM standards, and designing a math software program.

Karyn knows how to engage students in meaningful mathematical thinking and problem solving. In addition to her excellent work in the classroom, Karyn is a prolific developer of units of study, assessments, and portfolio systems.

When working with students, teachers, and parents, Karyn effectively draws upon everyday experiences to illustrate mathematical concepts. Her workshops are designed not only to provide teachers with materials, strategies, and content, but also serve to teach underlying mathematical principles so that teachers can easily apply what they have learned in their instruction.
